September 14, 2007 : Bounty of Impending Frost ![]() The day before the first freeze is poignant but can also be fun. If you've been tempted all summer to drive the golf cart right through the middle of a flower bed, today is the day to realize your dream. Yesterday I thought it was going to freeze and took the liberty of making some huge bouquets from white phlox, Amazon Neon Purple Dianthus, and Autumn Joy Sedum. I also searched out and snipped every nice tea rose blossom in the gardens. The plants can't mind. This will give their beauty a chance to be appreciated for a few more days. |
