September 10, 2007 : Limelight Hydrangea

Limelight Hydrangea deserves to be the next big thing in shrubs. Unlike it's relative Pee Gee, whose blooms tend to flop on the ground, Limelight holds its huge, full, blossoms upright. This plant was just planted this year.

The ropelike blossoms hanging over belong to Red Tails Amaranthus, commonly called Love-Lies-Bleeding.

The deep purple rose in the foreground is Blue Wonder, a hybrid tea type that we are using here as an annual.
