August 29, 2007 : Weeds?

Almost everything in this picture, save the white coneflower in the upper left hand corner, is a volunteer.

The colorful petunias came from seed dropped by the baskets that were hung on this post last year. The plants with huge green leaves are Nicotiana 'Only the Lonely,' a form of tobacco with fragrant white blossoms. There is also a little dogwood seedling and a Manchurian Elm, which both will have to come out.

A beautiful day today, sunny and 75. The gardens are still looking good.
