August 26, 2007 : Chestnut Crab

The Chestnuts are ripe! Chestnut apples, that is. So many times each spring I tell people to come in early September and taste one. They will stay good on the tree into October. They're technically a crabapple because of their size, but they are anything but sour. Super sweet and crisp with a distinct flavor. Come on out and sample one. Trees for sale in the spring.

An interesting day today (Sunday). We were closed for business but deluged with gardens visitors. Mom and Dad are on vacation, so I was stuck with all of Dad's work. I ferried crippled people around on the golf cart, watered the baskets, watered the trial pots, and unplugged a backed up toilet. Both golf carts broke down in the gardens, so I limped them back inside as twilight deepened and thunder rumbled in the west. It was nearly dark when the last visitors left and I was able to turn on seventeen sprinklers in the gardens to run through the night.

I had stayed up until three trying out some new recording equipment and recording videos for Youtube. Those of you that listened to rock in the eighties might enjoy this (or else maybe you'll be embarrased for me):
