August 1, 2007 : The Front Bed

The sidewalk that divides this flower bed is the same sidewalk that led up to Grandma and Grandpa's house. This bed, which we call the Front Bed, is the first to greet gardens visitors as they climb out of their cars. We tell people that this bed is our homage to Grandma Olga Bergeson, who had old-fashioned flower beds like this in front of her house. However, that's pretty much a line of baloney that we tell people to tickle their sentimental bone. It just evolved that this bed features an old-fashioned mix of perennials and annuals.
