Home A Botanical Retreat on the Grounds of Bergeson Nursery
The history of Bergeson Gardens is much shorter than the history of Bergeson Nursery. Bergeson Gardens started in the mid-1990s when Paul Bergeson decided to use some empty land which had been cleared of trees by a horrible windstorm in 1987 as a sort of trial garden. The land included the former site of Melvin and Olga Bergeson's old house, as well as about a half-dozen of the original, dilapitated nursery buildings.

The gardens quickly took off. Paul grabbed land for the gardens from other uses like a conquering general, putting in PVC pipe irrigation as he went.

Joe has added perennial beds in the past years to compensate for Paul's preference for annuals.

Each year, different employees contribute designs, depending upon how many beds need designing. It is always fun to see who comes up with what. Everybody has a different touch!

Each year, too, brings more visitors as more and more area people make a visit to Bergeson Gardens a part of their August routine.
